Baby shot four times including once in the head after coward dad ‘used him as a human shield from drug dealer’ (VIDEO)
A DRUGGIE dad who allegedly used his 11-month-old son as a "human shield" during a drug-deal gone wrong has been arrested.
Toddler Yaseem Munir Jenkins is in a critical condition after being shot four times, including once in the head, when his dad, Nafes Monroe, 25, reportedly used his tiny body as a bullet buffer last month.
The Philadelphia father was arrested on Saturday and charged with recklessly endangering another person and endangering the welfare of a child as his son continues to fight for his young life in hospital.
Reports indicate that little Yaseem had been in the back seat of the car with his dad, his stepmother and another unidentified man as the shots rang out.
The incident reportedly occurred because Monroe was using counterfeit money to buy his next fix.
"When they find out that they're being burned with counterfeit money, they act violently," Anthony Voci with the District Attorney's office told 6ABC News.
"A human shield is probably the term that I would use."
Voci revealed that the Monroe only brought his son into this dangerous situation because he thought they wouldn't shoot him if he had a child with him.

Although little Yaseem was badly injured in the shooting, his dad didn't bother bringing him straight to the hospital.
Instead, Monroe drove his bleeding baby son to a home ten minutes away from the emergency room before finally dumping him at a nearby medical center without a backward glance.
The 11-month-old was transferred to St. Christopher’s Hospital where he remains in a critical condition a month on, says NBC Los Angeles.
Monroe was previously taken into custody for a probation violation but has yet to be charged with using counterfeit money.
A spokesperson for the tot's family released a statement to ABC 13 last month on behalf of Yaseem's distraught mother.
"My son is fighting for his life and it is not fair ... " it read. "How could anyone be so heartless! Please do the right thing and help us find some form of closure or answers in this tragic situation. Help us find the shooter.
"I can't eat or sleep. I need justice for my baby. For the coward who did this to him, you will pay, even if it not today or tomorrow. God will handle you accordingly."
The disturbing events follow a spate of young people victimised by gun violence in Philadelphia.
